I’ve spent time over the past week putting together two screencasts to demonstrate
an important new feature in OpenSolaris: ZFS.
I used Macromedia
Captivate,
of which a mixed review is forthcoming 🙂
The first screencast is entitled 100 Filesystems in 5 Minutes, and steps you through the basics of creating and managing ZFS filesystems.
The second (and better one, I think) is called Self Healing with ZFS and shows off the way in which high reliability is designed directly into ZFS by doing something you would never attempt with a traditional volume manager: inducing massive corruption to one side of a mirror (remember that in a traditional volume manager, you can’t be sure which of the two sides has the correct data).
Enjoy!
